Who it is for.
This guide is for any high school student in the U.S. who wants to explore architecture. It includes free ways to start and extra guidance for students without design classes, college advice or professional connections.
You can start with paper, a place you know and a question. Expensive software, a summer camp or a family contact should not be the starting point.
What you can find here.
- Steps by grade to help you prepare.
- Portfolio help with projects, captions and a checklist.
- College and career routes, including different portfolio policies.
- Cost and aid guidance and tools to compare choices.
- Worksheets and scripts you can copy and use.
Sources and examples.
Facts are linked to official school, government and professional sources. Dates, prices and pay figures are marked by year. Always use your school’s current instructions for your degree and entry year.
Named schools show how policies differ; they are not a ranking or a recommended application list. Drawing and model diagrams are teaching examples, not accepted student portfolios. Published student stories and images are credited.
This is an independent guide, not an official college, AIA or NAAB publication.
Still being tested.
This website is a draft. Student, counselor and professional reviews are pending. Its advice is a starting point, not an admissions decision or a promise of acceptance.
Sources were last checked October 7, 2026. Admissions rules, aid dates and local opportunities can change. Check the linked program page before making plans. The guide’s editor plans to recheck dated listings monthly and general links quarterly.
